Exploring Mystic Falls – Covington, GA

For all Vampire Diaries fans, this is a must for the bucket list. A day trip to Mystic Falls promises a blend of natural beauty and adventure.

“Mystic Falls” Sign – Covington Visitor Center

As you walk through downtown you’ll see a few familiar sights, like the clock tower and the Mystic Grill. You might even catch a glimpse of the cars parked out front.

Most attractions are within walking distance, making it easy to stroll around with the kids. Bring a lightweight stroller for younger children if they tire easily. A few of the houses are located right near downtown, as well as the visitor center where you will find the famous “Mystic Falls” town sign.

The best route for downtown Covington is pictured below.

Start at the Mystic Grill and do a little shopping before heading to the visitor center. After taking a selfie with the famous town sign, head down to Conyers St, and Gram’s house will be on the right. Then, take a left onto East St and the Lockwood Mansion will be on your right. Next, as you come to the stop sign, Caroline’s house will be on the right, and Elena’s is on the left. You can park on the street if you’d like to park close.

Parking:

Downtown can be very busy, and there is limited parking. I suggest parking at the visitor center, which is a central location for all sights, and walking.

Shopping:

There are many stores in the square that offer TVD merchandise, so you will find a variety of items in almost every shop. The two most exciting are the museum, and the Mystic Mercantile. Here you will find a variety of autographed items, and memorabela from the show as well as the one and only “salvatore room”.

  • Scoops is a must, and a fan favorite known for its wide variety of flavors and treats.
  • The Bread & Butter Bakery

You can purchase non-alcholic ‘blood bags’ at the museum, and the bakery.

The Mystic Grill:

If you plan on eating, you’ll likely need to make a reservation, which I recommend doing first. Our wait time was about an hour and a half, but it was SOO worth it. The service was wonderful, the food was delishious and I even got to take home a souvinour glass.

There are other options located nearby if you wanted something less expensive.

Twin Oaks Bed & Breakfast:

Twin Oaks Bed & Breakfast is a charming spot located just down the road from Mystic Falls. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the iconic locations from The Vampire Diaries. The cozy atmosphere and personalized service make it a great choice for fans looking to immerse themselves in the experience.

The bed and breakfast typically offers comfortable accommodations with a homey feel, and you might even find some themed decor that nods to the beloved show. It’s a nice way to relax and recharge before heading out for more adventures or revisiting your favorite spots in Mystic Falls. Don’t forget to check for any special packages or offers they may have, especially for fans of the series!
