Things I would do differently next time I go to Disney
I will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT, be flying next time I go to Disney.

Overall, the flying experience with kids wasn’t too bad. With a 2 year old, and a 5 year old, the time we spent getting our things together, lugging around the car seat, going through TSA, and waiting on the flight, we could’ve driven and saved so much money on gas and time sitting at the airport.
I would’ve preferred to have the comfort of my own car. Even if flying “saves time”, I’m not a huge fan. Depending on when you book your flight, current gas prices and your type of car, driving is usually cheaper.
In total we spent about 7-9 hours at the airport. We had a family of 4 total so our flight wasn’t too cheap. After we landed in Florida, we then had to get an Uber to our resort. Once we were at the resort, we had transportation by shuttle to the different parks so we weren’t exactly stuck, but I did regret not having my car.

Now this is really where I said enough – the food and drinks! It gets expensive real quick. While you can get snacks, and small meals for less than $20, after a long day of walking miles in circles, sometimes you need a full hot meal. We spent probably the same amount of money on our food that we did on the flight. The parks provide a wide variety of food options for lunch, and the portion sizes are full so most plates can be split between two people. The restaurants usually have a long wait time so plan ahead if you want to sit down for a full meal. We opted for the food carts which allowed us to share a quick bite when needed.
We stayed for a total of 5 days, and we were stuck eating the same food for breakfast and dinner at the resort. We eventually got tired of the food and decided to order DoorDash for dinner one night. The only downfall to that was, no fridge or microwave in the room. There is a microwave in the cafeteria area, but the resort is HUGE and of course our room was about a good 7 minute walk away. If we would’ve had our car, we could’ve gotten breakfast or dinner elsewhere and had more options to choose from and saved money at the same time.
We got refillable souvenir cups for soda/water, which is a great investment, but the alcoholic drinks are definitely not worth it. Just bring a bottle if you plan on drinking and save the money.

Lastly, we didn’t have the freedom to explore other things without paying for another Uber. And if you’re anything like me, riding in the car with other people is a no go. My anxiety goes through the roof, so you can only imagine how I felt when my kids were involved. When I travel, I like to go shopping, explore the touristy attractions, and soak everything up! Not having my car meant that we were about Disney, and only Disney.
This wasn’t all too bad, the kids enjoyed their time. The resort offers a variety of free things to do for the kids so they stayed busy the whole time.
Each resort could be different. I’ve only been once, and we stayed at the music resort. I’d recommend doing your research. Call the resort before traveling to ensure you plan properly.
